Description
Dulse is a wild sea vegetable found in cold, clean sea water throughout the world. Our dulse is harvested from prolific, high-quality strands which grows in the intertidal and subtidal zones of the Grand Manan Archipelago in New Brunswick. The Grand Manan’s clean seawater is nutrient-rich and the strong currents with high tides produces the ideal conditions for dulse growth. Harvesters travel to the remote shoreline locations by dory boat to select and hand pick the fresh wet dulse. Quality dulse can only be picked at extremely low tides during a few days each summer month. It is then dried on beach rocks under natural sunlight and sea breezes.
